Signifyd is looking to hire a Cloud Platform Engineer who focuses on consistently delivering and improving high-quality systems and code to increase the reliability, performance, and security of the Signifyd Cloud Platform. You will be part of a team of highly skilled engineers maintaining and automating a vast cloud-based computing environment supporting Signifyd’s decision platform. The candidate will collaborate with development teams and fellow cloud infrastructure engineers to address critical issues. The candidate can understand OS and networking issues and debug system issues to identify bottlenecks and problems. To ensure seamless system operations, the candidate will need some proficiency in cloud technologies, containers, Kubernetes, networking, security, scripting, automation, and platform engineering. The candidate should possess strong technical aptitude, software development skills, analytical and communication skills, and an ability to identify reliability risks. This is an SE2 level position.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure cloud-based services, promoting efficiency and self-service principles.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment, empowering engineering teams.
  • Implement and manage Kubernetes clusters for container orchestration, monitoring, and scaling.
  • Translate ideas into clear code, written to be read and executed.
  • Write code (Python, HCL, bash script) that is free of glaring errors—bugs are in edge cases or design, not mainline paths—and that is well documented and well tested, using manual vs. automated tests appropriately.
  • Read and navigate a large code base (Python, Java, JavaScript) and debug others’ code effectively.
  • Address code tasks with both high throughput and appropriately high quality for the project stage they are working on.
  • Collaborate on CI/CD (TeamCity) pipelines to automate software deployment, including the build platform (Java, Gradle Enterprise) and QA/Testing tooling to drive DevEx up and CFR to zero, emphasizing engineering and self-service automation.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to optimize applications for cloud deployment, emphasizing performance and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot engineering issues, provide root cause analysis and propose engineering-focused solutions.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to the cloud infrastructure, engineering practices, and security configurations.

What You'll Need

  • Experience in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
  • Understanding how systems fail and working with teams to reduce the risks
  • Pragmatic understanding of software limitations and how to identify reliability risks
  • Experience using container systems such as Kubernetes and ECS
  • Familiarity with databases (at least one of MySQL, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch)
  • Understanding best practices for cloud environments, including security, cost optimization, operational excellence, reliability, and performance efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline), and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, effective in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience in software development in general, with demonstrable skills in a high-level language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java) and familiarity with modern development practices
  • Understanding of Cloud Observability, Monitoring, and Tracing tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Jaeger, ELK) and how best to leverage to support effective MTTR and mitigate high CFR
