As a Cassandra Database Administrator here at Callsign, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the Apache Cassandra Database Management System (DBMS) on Public cloud within Kubernetes. Your role will involve handling the overall system administration, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the Cassandra clusters. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the database infrastructure and implement best practices, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.


Design, Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Apache Cassandra DBMS on Kubernetes for multiple environments.

Define and establish best practices with Cassandra clusters, including performance, configuration and monitoring health.

Implement backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and minimizing downtime.

Manage storage capacity of the cluster and help plan for growth based on future project goals.

Diagnose and troubleshoot production issues as needed.

Analyse data access patterns and identify hotspots and bottlenecks.

Design and review data models, and help developers plan high performing queries.

Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical production systems and participate in the resolution of emergencies.

Working on Cassandra cluster migrations to support Kubernetes upgrades.

Experience with Cassandra, including installing configuring and monitoring a Cassandra cluster.

Hands-on experience with Cassandra database hosted on Amazon cloud is a must.

Previous experience as a DevOps/SRE or equivalent

Experience in deploying, scaling, and managing containerised applications on AWS EKS(Kubernetes).

Strong knowledge of Cassandra architecture, and NoSQL concepts.

Proficient in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Cassandra clusters.

Solid understanding of Cassandra database, data modeling, and CQL (Cassandra Query Language).

Experience in performance tuning, capacity planning, and cluster optimization.

Experience with Linux Operating Systems.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, high availability solutions, and disaster recovery planning.

Experience with monitoring tools like DataStax OpsCenter, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.

Basic understanding of networking concepts and security best practices.

Understanding of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, AlertManager, Grafana, NewRelic

Expertise in design, analysis and architecture of large-scale distributed systems

Extensive knowledge of AWS. Experience in GCP is a plus.

Certifications like Certified Apache Cassandra Administrator or equivalent will be a plus.
